General Summary

The IT & Field Support Engineer will assist in the development, installation and technical support of integration systems for clients. The incumbent will work closely with our clients on-site, at locations across the United States, providing support to the software development team and quality assurance teams.

Essential Job Functions


  • Maintain server, routers and modems.
  • Manage and track domains. 
  • Resolve network communication issues.
  • Install software and hardware.
  • Setup new users to include issuing computers and phones.
  • Manage backup, security and passwords.  
  • Troubleshoot technical issues for employees.
  • Make recommendations for improvements and upgrades to IT infrastructure.


  • Troubleshoot/answer questions/communicate effectively with non-technical clients
  • Identify and analyze product failures; document customer interactions with product
  • Work with the software development team to answer questions, resolve software issues and prioritize defects/enhancements
  • Provide regular status updates to clients, software development team and project management team
  • Review application-related documentation for accuracy
  • Interact with customers to explain software and computer systems
  • Capture and document customers feedback and requirements when applicable
  • Assist in unit and system level testing
  • Assist in system integration and development efforts
  • Participate in technical discussions as well as design reviews
  • Thorough working knowledge of our system, software and the LINUX environment
  • Custom computer setup and testing including installation and setup of customer software applications (i.e. customer military software applications)
  • Other duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities  

Bachelor of Science in Software Engineering or Computer Sciences or Information Technology.  The ideal candidate has three plus years of programming experience in Java/C++, as well as commercial software development experience. The incumbent must be a self-motivated individual who is willing to research and investigate solutions on his/her own. Experience optimizing environments for high performance. Demonstrate a broad range of skills in different technologies. Strong troubleshooting and diagnostic skills. Strong familiarity with digital video standards, interfaces, processing solutions and virtualization technology is a huge plus. An ideal candidate will have at least one year of field support (on-site customer support) and be willing to travel on  a regular basis. Skills to succeed include: good listener, hard-worker, strong work ethic, strong analytical skills, communication skills as well as organization and time-management skills, and ability to work independently without direct supervision. The incumbent must be motivated to learn and collaborate in a high-energy environment and interact with external stakeholders and members of the software team to provide software solutions. A U.S. DoD SECRET Security Clearance required.
